UCAS Higher Education Convention brings together universities and colleges within the UCAS scheme to inform and guide prospective university and college students in Olympia National.
UCAS conventions are a series of 49 higher education conventions held every year throughout the UK, including nine major events in 2010 held at large, prestigious venues. The conventions bring together universities and colleges within the UCAS scheme to inform and guide prospective university and college students. The events play a vital part in helping applicants decide about what and where to study within higher education. Prospectuses are available from most of the stands at the conventions.
Exhibitors also include further education colleges, Connexions, GAP Year organisations, student support services, professional bodies, student travel firms, student finance and lots more, depending on the event.
The convention has an extensive seminar programme some topics include 'Student Finance', 'Taking a Gap Year', and 'Applying through
For the first time, the UCAS London Convention will include an area dedicated to employers. This area, or “Career Zone”, will include a selection of companies that are keen to speak to students about employment opportunities. These employers will have a selection of employment routes for young people – from the traditional graduate path, to sponsored degrees, apprenticeships and much, much more.
We urge all teachers and advisers attending the London Convention to encourage their pupils to include a trip to the Career Zone while at the event. Never has the need to know the different paths to work been so important, and UCAS is delighted to bring this new addition to London. Students will be able to speak to a variety of employers including KPMG, IBM, accenture, Thales, Virgin, EDF Energy, JP Morgan, the Bank of England and the forces – understand what they will need to work at these employers, and why they might want to consider a career with there.
