Olympia Events appoints new Technology Director to drive digital strategy and growth

Olympia Events, managed by Legends Global, has announced the appointment of Richard Harris as Technology Director, reinforcing its commitment to be a technology-led and data-driven business, amid Olympia’s ongoing £1.3bn regeneration.
In this role, Harris will lead the technology strategy across the business, supporting the delivery of world-class exhibitions, conferences and live events, while ensuring technology plays a central role in Olympia’s next phase of development.
Harris brings over 20 years of experience, holding several senior leadership positions in events, marketing, ticketing and sports. His remit spans IT operations, large-scale digital transformation, cybersecurity and data systems, with expertise in integrating technology across customer, organiser and operational touchpoints.
Prior to joining Olympia Events, Harris was a Director at Two Circles, where he contributed to significant revenue growth and helped establish the business as one of the fastest-growing sports agencies globally. He has also held leadership positions at the Rugby Football Union, Rugby World Cup 2015, London 2012 Olympic Games and Wembley Stadium where he delivered the technology that opened the venue. His experience across large-scale, customer-facing live environments has equipped him with strong expertise in delivering reliable, scalable and high-performing technology under pressure.
In his new role, Harris will define and drive both the strategic vision and operational delivery of technology at Olympia Events. He will oversee the organisation’s core IT infrastructure, connectivity and security, working closely with the venue’s IT team and wider business to strengthen data capabilities, improve operational efficiency and enhance the end-to-end experience for organisers and visitors alike.
Alex Lewis, COO at Olympia Events, said:
“Richard will play a critical role in strengthening our technology foundations while helping us become a more insight-led, data-driven business. His ability to translate business needs into practical, outcome-focused solutions will be key as we continue to grow and diversify.
“Our ambition is to place customer-led thinking at the centre of every decision. Richard’s leadership will support greater collaboration across teams and help us deliver even better experiences for our organisers, exhibitors and visitors.”
Harris’ appointment forms part of ongoing leadership investment at Olympia Events, as the organisation prepares to be at the beating heart of Olympia’s transformation, becoming one of London’s most iconic destinations for events, entertainment, hospitality and business.
Commenting on his appointment, Harris said:
“This role represents a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a globally recognised venue at a pivotal moment in its history. I’m looking forward to working with the team to ensure technology acts as a true enabler of growth, delivering practical, outcome-driven solutions that enhance both the organisation and the guest experience within our event spaces.”
Olympia is one of the most ambitious regenerations in the world. Following the opening of Wetherby Pembridge in September 2025 and Idalia at Pillar Hall in March 2026, the new venues and public spaces at Olympia will continue to open in phases, culminating with the new theatre in early 2027.
